It’s the first message you see as you step into the newly opened Canopy by Hilton Longkloof, right in the heart of Cape Town.
Housed in a heritage building dating back to 1919, this new hotel is a celebration of local creativity, and we’re both proud and honoured to be part of the story.
Teaming up with the talented crew at KM2K, we created a range of custom lampshades and beanbags to help bring colour, comfort, and personality into the space. From the entrance to the lift lobbies and the rooms upstairs, there’s a little bit of Ashanti magic wherever you look.
Light it up
Look up and you’ll spot clusters of our woven lampshades glowing overhead. One of our proudest contributions to this project was a series of custom-woven lampshades, thoughtfully placed across various levels of the hotel. You’ll find them clustered in lift lobbies, dotting ceilings, and welcoming guests from the moment they walk in - each one made by hand in Cape Town by our incredible team of welders and weavers.
In and amongst the clusters above is our Kitungu Lampshade. A firm new favourite in our lighting collection. Named because of it’s rounded shape, after the Swahili word for “onion”, we just couldn’t stop calling it “the onion,” and therefore the name stuck. It’s bold, fun, and totally customisable (just like all our lights).
Put your feet up
In the rooms, you’ll find custom beanbags made just for the hotel. We took our classic Mini Ejoro and gave it a bigger, comfier twist, creating them in bespoke colourways to match each floor’s colour palette. Whether you’re in for the night or just kicking off your shoes, they’re the perfect place to flop.
A proudly local collab
Collaborating on a project of this scale, with a brand as globally recognised as Hilton and a local design powerhouse like KM2K, has been an absolute honour. We’re especially proud that South African craftsmanship is at the heart of this hotel experience, offering international travellers a true sense of place from the moment they walk in.
