Guided by our commitment to up-cycling, sustainability, and versatility, we set out to create a more adaptable material, which could be tailored to meet the unique project needs of our corporate clients.
We found a solution in a beautiful combination of Raffia, an indigenous palm from Madagascar, and up-cycled white cotton. Combining this captivating local fibre with threads meticulously crafted from white fabric offcuts sourced from fast-fashion factories, we unlocked new creative possibilities.
With the skillfull craftsmanship of our Madagascan artisans, we achieved a soft and neutral fabric adorned with delightful speckled textures.
In collaboration with Muza Lab, we were able to bring a subtle African authenticity and interest to the One & Only hotel suites. A bold cross-hatched pattern, screen printed in black on the white cotton and raffia fabric, added a striking contrast to the soothing neutral tones of each suite.
We also introduced a stunning Terrazo pattern curtain strip in black, blue, and white, infusing the space with a sense of intrigue and charm, as well as adorned the walls of each walk-in wardrobe with our cross-hatched pattern. The final result? A harmonious fusion of African materials, textures, and patterns, redefining luxury.
This project was an inspiring journey of creativity and innovation, pushing the boundaries of our work and revealing the true potential of our fabrics.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the One & Only Hotel for entrusting us with this remarkable opportunity and to Muza Lab for their invaluable collaboration throughout this exciting project.
Together, we've woven magic into every thread, making One & Only Cape Town a testament to the power of design, craftsmanship, and the spirit of collaboration.
This project allowed us to diversify our fabric offerings and explore new applications for our creations. What began as a quote for a few lampshades turned into an exciting journey of creativity, pushing the boundaries of our work and revealing the true potential of our fabrics.
